Abstract

We propose the development of a novel adjunct to exogenous insulin therapy for the management of hyperglycemia accompanying beta cell insufficiency associated with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. We describe an approach to develop nanoscale particles that deliver therapeutic agents (e.g. Glucagon, Insulin) in a glucose responsive manner and have therapeutically meaningful in vivo half-lives. If successful this proposal will result in self-operating molecular machines with medical applications.
